ANGELS OF DEATH: INSIDE THE
BIKERS' GLOBAL CRIME EMPIRE
by William Marsden and Julian Sher
Hachette Livre, rrp. $35

AN UNFLINCHING account in meticulous detail of the formation and global expansion of the Hell's Angels criminal empire. The subject seems to be an obsession with the two journalist authors; this is their second book on the gang. They convincingly portray the Angels as a highly organised crime operation on a par with the mafia and triads, and comprehensively dismiss as ludicrous the bikers' claim that it's a motorcycle enthusiasts' club tainted by a few bad apples in its ranks. A frightening expose.

In a word: grisly
